Lions Mane is a wonderfully rejuvenating mushroom, with a gentle, calming, and grace-filled action. It is a true gift from Divine Grace
Lions Mane stimulates our systems to produce the neuropeptide NGF (Nerve Growth Factor). This amazing compound may help to optimise immunological function, together with supporting nervous system activity (both central and peripheral) and metabolic health. It is also an important upper stomach, spleen, and heart tonic traditionally used to support anxiety, depression, memory, and intelligence. It is considered one of the best medicinal mushrooms to nurture menopausal symptoms.
Lions Mane’s Japanese name Yamabushitake translates into those who sleep in the mountains, about the Shugendo Buddhist Monks. Interestingly they believe physical endurance to be the path to enlightenment and frequently spend time in seclusion, fasting, and testing their physical being by standing / sitting under cold mountain waterfalls or in the snow. They specialise in acts of healing, purification, and protection for their own benefit and those of their communities. It is of lovely synchronicity that lion’s mane is such a beautifully regenerative mushroom.
Lions Mane helps to deepen our receptivity to nourishment and nurture on all levels of being. As we develop greater receptivity we are much better placed to give with true reciprocity and enjoy a greater sense of resilience. (This can help us to minimise or avoid a sense of depletion or exhaustion).
When I think of Lions Mane I am reminded of White Tara, The Great Protectress, Divine Grace herself.
